Natalia Simmons-Thomas

 

Natalia Simmons-Thomas is a Chinese linguist and open source analyst with over four years of experience in analysis and translation of Chinese language sources, including CNKI (Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure), corporate records, stock exchange filings, Chinese military journals, manuals and various open-source materials.

Previously, Natalia worked at RAND Corporation where she conducted Chinese language research and analysis on Asia specific security topics for government sponsors. At RAND she also completed full-text Chinese-to-English translations of technical military manuals and journals. After her time at RAND, Natalia went on to become an open source analyst at Language-Enabled Analyst at a private defense contractor, where she completed analysis on military entities and due diligence analysis. Natalia is currently an Open Source Analyst-Senior Consultant at Guidehouse Consulting, serving both government and commercial clients.

Natalia graduated from The George Washington University in 2019 with a Dual-degree

in International Affairs and Chinese Language & Literature. During her studies, she received the U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (China) in 2017 and then later continued her studies in China with Associated Colleges in China(ACC), a student exchange program at Minzu University.

Natalia has been studying Chinese for over 10 years and continues to be committed to encouraging Chinese language acquisition within the Black community and further uplift, advance and develop black China professionals.
