Alexis Alton

 

Alexis Alton is a sophomore at Columbia University, majoring in East Asian Studies. Alexis began her study of Mandarin in ninth grade, sparking her interest in Chinese language and cultural studies. She joined BCC in 2023, where she currently serves as the Co-Head of Community Strategy for the China 101 program.


Alexis loves learning languages and has previously taken Spanish, French, and Latin classes. She has six years of Mandarin language experience and continues her Mandarin studies at Columbia. She has coursework experience in Chinese literature, women in China, and Japanese culture. She is involved with many different clubs on campus, including the Columbia Corporate Law and Business Association, the Columbia Pre-Law Society, and Columbia University Fashion Society. Through her work as Co-Head of Community Strategy for BCC's China 101 program, she has aimed to encourage students to learn more about Chinese language and culture as well as opportunities available in the China space.
